Jeremy Pressman  PhD

A Webinar by
Tucson Great Decisions Association

In September of 2020, the White House announced the signing of agreements between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain called the Abraham Accords.  At the time the agreements were touted as an important step in normalizing relations between Israel and its Arab neighbors.  Now we have lived with The Accords in place for a little over a year.  Have The Accords lived up  to the hype?  How can we build on those initial steps?

Jeremy Pressman (PhD, MIT) is a professor of political science and director of Middle East Studies at the University of Connecticut. He co-directs the Crowd Counting Consortium which collects data on protests in the United States. His most recent book is The sword is not enough: Arabs, Israelis, and the limits of military force (Manchester University Press, 2020). He recently had an essay on our topic published by Foreign Affairs.  In 2019, Pressman was a Fulbright scholar at the Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo.
